“Love the view. Looked like our room was recently remodeled. Very comfortable hammock on the balcony. Very good price. Some of the information on the website is not accurate. We rented a specific room because it said it had a view (website said no A/C which was OK with us). The confirmation email said it did not. We emailed a couple time to confirm the view and they never answered. When we got there our room did not have a view. They moved us from our 2 bed room to one with a king bed and the VIEW for the same price (and it did have A/C -- maybe due to a remodel). We had emailed to ask for the best way to get there from the airport and they did not answer that either. Helpful to know Spanish as they do not speak English -- except the guy they sent to get our safe open. Google maps does not show a road to the place so the taxi driver could not find the place. We had to give him their number to get directions. I would stay there again. But maybe have someone send my emails in Spanish.”

“Calm hotel with great views and delicious, freshly prepared meals. I stayed here 6 nights and it was the perfect "reset" that I had been needing. I stayed during the week which was very calm and quiet. It did get busier on Friday and Saturday but no so much that it took away from the appeal of the place. My priorities in a hotel were something quiet with good views and close to an ocean I could swim in. I also wanted there to be a restaurant on site. The things I wanted to avoid were large crowds, parties, and being too far from the ocean to walk to it. Altamira fulfilled all my major priorities. If these sound like what you're looking for in a hotel, then I recommend Altamira wholeheartedly. As mentioned, it is very calm, incredible views, and everyone that I met there was very kind and had interesting stories; staff and travelers alike. The staff are efficient and pleasant and it feels like you're dealing with real people - not just hotel staff. Although the sun is quite strong in the pool area during the day, there are plenty of places to sit and hang out in shade and the waitresses are pleasant and quick to bring you your drinks. The food, as mentioned in other reviews, is really good! I've included a few pictures for proof I had a room with a terraza and AC - for me, TOTALLY worth it. I spent HOURS in the hammock in front of the ocean and listened to an entire 9 hour book in that time. That will be a new core memory for me. If you're on the fence about it, just book the better room. It's worth it. All that being said, I'll go ahead and list the things that I wasn't too crazy about: -the beds only have a single sheet... I need a heavier blanket in order to sleep well, so that was an adjustment. -No fridge, no TV. I am fine without a TV, personally, but no fridge was TOUGH. I would have been willing to pay more just to have a fridge those few days. I trudged a bag of ice and a bottle of wine up that hill twice during my stay You'll understand what that's like once you stay there yourself . -Wifi doesn't make it to the rooms, only in the restaurant and pool area. -Last point I want to make is that I recommend anything on that menu EXCEPT the hamburger. The meat is the thickness (or should I say thinness) of a sheet of paper (sorry Altamira ) It could damn near be called a veggie burger It is the nature of the area that sometimes there are power outages - and that happened once while I was there. It's not about the hotel, it's about all of Mazunte. If that happens during your trip, you just need to realize that the staff are as stressed as you are about it and there's not much anyone can do other than relax. There are also a lot of mosquitos... recommendable to take a repellant with you. As other reviews have mentioned, this is right on the beach.... one only needs to walk seventy or so stairs to get there. The walk into town seems quite daunting but is actually much simpler and goes by much quicker than you'd expect. Right next to the hotel entrance is the entrance to Punta Cometa which is a very popular place to watch the sunset. They offer drinking water for the guests and there is a mini super just a short 8 minute walk from the hotel for snacks. Absolutely rewarding and beautiful experience. Would recommend. (Worth mentioning that although my review is in English, I only spoke in Spanish to the staff. I saw other foreigners just using translate to get by.)”

“Great hotel, room and wonderful pool. Even our balcony had a great pool. A lot of breakfast options. The room could use some minor renovations and wifi doesn’t work well in the rooms.”
